I'm a true lover of any kind of historical fiction! This lovely gem was well written and engaging. You'll be sucked in to their inspiring and romantic tale from the beginning. There is a dark underlying message in this story, one of prejudice and hate, but the writer captivates you with the magic of their words and draw you in to the characters lives with such mastery that you feel as though you're right there. The characters, setting, and overall story is incredible and a must read. I'd recommend this book to anyone!

I really enjoyed how the author gave life to this story! To make a place like Windsor Ontario sound as beautiful and romantic as this author depicted, was nothing short of literary genius talent!

I highly recommend this very engaging and entertaining novel - the characters are wonderfully developed, the love story between the two central characters is sweet, sad and humorous all at the same time. The historical themes are especially fascinating against the back drop of WWII era Detroit and Essex County in Ontario. Mr. Pearce captures beautifully the internal struggle and the sacrifices made by his characters to protect their family and move the world forward.
