Fast approaching her 30th birthday and finding herself not married, not dating, and without even a prospect or a house full of cats, Renee Greene, the heroine of Click An Online Love Story, reluctantly joins her best guy pal on a journey to find love online in Los Angeles. The story unfolds through a series of emails between Renee and her best friends (anal-compulsive Mark, the overly-judgmental Ashley and the over-sexed Shelley) as well as the gentlemen suitors she meets online. From the guy who starts every story with "My buddies and I were out drinking one night," to the egotistical "B" celebrity looking for someone to stroke his ego, Renee endures her share of hilarious and heinous cyber dates. Fraught with BCC's, FWD's and inadvertent Reply to All's, readers will root for Renee to "click" with the right man.

Click An Online Love Story edition by Lisa Becker Contemporary Romance eBooks

CLICK is an epistolary story told through email and was easy to follow despite my initial concerns about the format. Renee's friend Mark talks her into online dating. Even though he ends up dithering away most of the year trying to find the perfect site. There were a lot of misses and some nice connections. Renee and her friends were a hoot, and she handled the perils of the online dating world better than I would. She came across as a real person, if at times a little too perfect, but definitely someone you could relate to. I chuckled so much that my mom asked me to read some parts out loud. It was a bit predictable, but it didn't really detract from the story.

A con: Her best friend's jokes got a bit stale and I was really tired of them by the end of the book. Renee started a running joke about one of Shelley's one night stands. It seemed unexpectedly harsh and out of character for her. I realize she was joking around with her friend and I eventually I realized that what was going on, but it just stuck out.

Verdict:
I was expecting something a bit more like Bridget Jones' Diary, but I still liked Click. It was fluffy fun, an excellent vacation read with a satisfying HEA. However, I would say it's better to borrow this one from the library.

Click An Online Love Story edition by Lisa Becker Contemporary Romance eBooks Reviews

This was an enjoyable fast read. Anyone who has ever struggled through the crazy world of online dating knows what she's written about is very close to the truth. The thing I didn't like about the book was that it was written completely in email form between the heroin and her three best friends. I found it a little difficult to keep up with who was talking. It tells you in each online header, but honestly, those are like chapter titles to me, and I skimmed. My bad. The experiences she wrote about really do happen with online dating -- and then some. It's hard to get to know a character through email so I never was fully invested in Renee. It reminded me a lot of the series, Sex in the City.
I really enjoyed this book. The "everything in email" format made it a really quick, entertaining read. And as someone who has dabbled a bit in online dating, I was able to relate to Renee's experiences, both the funny ones and the heartbreaking ones. The friendships between the characters and dialogue felt very authentic and the twist at the end was completely unexpected. I liked all of the characters although Mark was lacking something, testosterone maybe? And while I was able to appreciate the humor in Shelly's sexcapades, it got annoying after awhile and actually quite gross. She basically slept with a different guy every time she went out. There is "promiscuous" and then there is "slutty" and Shelly was slutty with a capital S. It got boring to me after awhile. I would say I was drawn in by the story immediately, got a bit bored about half-way through and then tore through the end - the ending was awesome. One thing that I noticed that kind of stuck with me is that Renee indicated in her profile that she was a Taurus yet celebrated her birthday in January... Not possible!
~Quickie Review~

The Good Characters (Shelley is a hoot!), pace (very fast! <3), engaging, fun, funny, entertaining, format (loved the emails! Although I would have loved to be privy to phone conversations and "dates" and such), Cute.

The Bad Typos, conflict, ending (cliffhanger).

I think the Good/Bad sum up my feelings pretty well here. I L-O-V-E-D this book (almost read the whole thing in one sitting. Which is HUGE for me btw!) right up until the conflict and end. I was all set to tag this as a Favorite and give it 5+ stars, but the end was a little too abrupt for me. In fact, it was so abrupt that it took me a few tries to turn the page before I realized it was done (yes, I had a "Duh" moment. Sue me...).

Despite the cliffhanger ending, I enjoyed this book a lot. I can't wait to read the next installment. If you're looking for a fast-paced, fun little read with a unique twist, then this is an excellent option.
"Click An Online Love Story" by Lisa Becker is the first "Chick-Lit" book I've ever read - and I loved it! At first, the e-mail format of the book takes some getting used to, but before long you realize you wouldn't have it any other way. The character's voices, absent reported clauses, become instantly recognizable by the way they compose their e-mails, and are fleshed out after only a couple of exchanges. Becker also wisely included - but didn't overuse - some of the more common pratfalls of e-mail such as hitting the "reply" button when you meant to "forward." These embarrassing and awkward moments help to drive the story forward through the tension they create, and are painfully familiar to anyone who has ever sat in front of a computer screen. .
Lisa Becker has pulled off a winner with "Click", and I look forward to the sequel, "Double-Click" when it becomes available.
