When I read Mary K. Norris's first book, Silent as the Grave, I immediately fell in love with Norris's voice and quirky characters. I was delighted to read her second book, but didn't see how it could top the first. From the first chapter of Shield from the Heart, I knew I had underestimated Norris's talent. Merrick, the wounded hero, immediately sucked me in, but the position Sydney, the book's heroine, was put in broke my heart. I couldn't wait to see how Norris was going to work things out so that Sydney would be able to live with both herself and her Mirror Mate, and Norris pulled it off without a hitch. I was already an avid fan of the Guild of Truth series, but now I won't be able to wait a day before reading any new additions to the series. I can't recommend this book highly enough.
