Halo of the Damned Dina Rae Naomi Clark Dawn Dominique 9781615726059 Books
Halo of the Damned by Dina Rae is exemplary writing. With well-defined characters, a plot that is gripping, fast paced and infectious, it leaves the reader with no option other than to forge ahead within this tale of a world infiltrated by God's banished; the fallen angels and the demonic minions they've created, human worshipers and Satan. At the center of it all, are three courageous women: Joanna, Kim and Kim's daughter Maria. After the death of their mother Lydia Easterhouse, Joanna and Kim discover that their mother led a secret life. The Easterhouse offspring are strong, brave, able and willing to do whatever it takes when faced with having to deal with the cunning and evil Andel Talistokov, also known as Armaros. Andel's assistant Marcus is to Andel what Renfield was to Dracula, only a bit more humorous and pathetic. It's hard not to pity him. The pint-sized spitfire Maria will steal your heart. I must mention the handsome charismatic Tony and but in fear of revealing too much about this dynamic man I'll leave it at that, just a mention.
I highly recommend reading Halo of the Damned and if I could impose on the author, I would love to see her expand this story into a series of books. Take a bow Dina Rae for a job well done.
Sincerely, Quinn Cullen

This book had a very real feel to it. The character building was great and tied in multiple main characters well. Although some if the book was graphic, it played very well into the story.
This is one of the best, most unique sci fi books I have ever read. It is about fallen angels and how they are integrated into human lives. Worth the time to read!
You can tell Dina Rae put a lot of research and effort into the writing of Halo of the Damned! You've always been a great friend and colleague, keep up the awesome work!
Bought this for my kindle on the advice of a friend. I thought Okay this isn't normally my style of reading, but I couldn't put this book down! It kept me interested from page one until the ending. I am usually rather picky on reading my mysteries and this was too good to put down.. The only part I didn't like was about the dog so I just made sure I paged forward over that part. I look forward to more books from Dina Rae.
This novel is themed on fallen angels, as Satan and his minions preside in Hell-- his chief lieutenants, are privileged to move among men and work to gather souls for Satan's next great battle. Great power is given; with the conditions they do not draw the humans' worship to them and do not mate with human females.
After the opening chapter and our horrific introduction to Andel (demon name Armaros) we learn that two sisters Kim and Joanna Easterhouse and Kim's six year daughter are grieving Kim and Joanna's mother's recent death and are in the process of dealing with her estate. Mystery veils both their mother's past and the origin of certain artifacts left them. They learn they are Nephilim, genetically part human and part angel...unfortunately it is Satan's soldier Armaros, who in defiance of Satan's law craves worship for himself, and is out to breed his own army of devotees. It is he, Armaros, who is the progenitor of the Easterhouse line. Unfortunately the likelihood of young Nephilim even surviving the awakening of their powers is faint, most often the Nephilim suffer madness, seek fatal distraction through drugs and addictions, or end in suicide. Irresistibly they are drawn together, the Demon ancestor and his offspring, with the girls fighting for their right to live in the light...for their right to live.
Ms. Rae has created a gripping and fast-paced story. It is many times grim and unrelenting and I found myself craving some flicker of divine presence to show itself as Armaros and his followers inflicted horrors on impure and innocent alike. We do finally, however, see signs of redemption for some. I would recommend this book to any readers who enjoy a good paranormal read with a strong current of horror running through.
I interviewed Dina Rae on my website and she was incredibly personable. I liked her attitude so much, I bought her book 'Halo of the Damned.' Here is the link to her interview.

This is a simple, yet fun and twisted read. The basic story is about Andel, one of the fallen angels who is in cahoots with Lucifer. Here on Earth, Andel runs an ad agency in Chicago. He's done a fantastic job using advertising as a means to manipulate and deceive people away from salvation.
Although Andel does eat a lot of people, he is the central villain of this story, and not the hero.
The heroine in this story is Joanna, a cocaine addict fresh out of prison. She is just getting out when we meet her and her sister, Kim. Their mother has recently died and the two women are trying to get Mom's estate in order. Things about Mom begin to be uncovered around the same time as Joanna is getting hired by Andel to fill the shoes of someone he ate earlier in the story.
Dina is a very methodical writer. Her research into angelic lore shows itself clearly. Dina wasn't afraid to get her hands bloody with this story, and I got several grim chuckles from the poor sods receiving undeserved horrors. I'm sick that way.
This story made me think about soap operas. Once you think you have a character pinned and you think you know what's coming next, the next thing you know you get the next level of dirt. The dirt just keeps on getting dirtier.
Read with a smile and don't take yourself too seriously and you'll find 'Halo of the Damned' to be a fun read. If your looking for 'high-brow' literature, this might not be your book. Did I remember to warn that people get eaten in this book?
